The 11th Aphorism Booklet

The goal of this project was to learn to combine type and image in effective and expressive ways. As part of the design, we had to develop a consistent visual theme that interprets the author, Lao-Tze’s, ideas in the aphorism.

The 11th Aphorism

Lao Tze

.
“Thirty spokes converge at the wheel’s hub, but the hole in the center is the essence of the wheel. From clay the vessel is made. But the space within is the essence of the vessel. Walls with windows and doors form the house, but the emptiness inside is the essence of the house. Therefore, that which is visible provides usefulness. But the empty space reveals the essence.”
